Steep N' Clay is a tea store in Elgin, Illinois. It is listed at 8 Douglas Ave, Elgin, IL 60120, which places it among the local businesses of Elgin that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as pottery store, tea house, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Tea in the United States covers everything from a traditional Chinese or Japanese tea house to a Southern sweet-tea counter, and the fastest-growing segment is bubble tea: Taiwanese-style milk teas and fruit teas with tapioca pearls, sold by chains and independents alike with adjustable sugar and ice levels. Tea rooms serving afternoon tea with scones and sandwiches usually require a reservation, while boba shops, juice bars and smoothie shops are walk-in and quick. Kava and kombucha bars are a newer category, and loose-leaf tea stores sell blends, teaware and gifts, often with a tasting counter. Prices for a drink run similar to coffee-shop prices, with premium teas and cold-pressed juices at the high end.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10 am–5 pm. It is closed on Monday, Tuesday. Elgin is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Elgin follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If I could 10 star this I would. Apparantly the owner travels around the world to get the teas. I'm definitely one of those people just waiting to become a tea snob so the sheer variety shocked me, they have everything. Good quality, the tea prices are great, and pottery prices are debatable but still worth the beauty and art.

Best tea shop around. They have a large variety of premium tea including a large selection of puerh. Not only is the tea amazing but the owner and workers are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I recommend booking a tea tasting as well.

Went to the tea tasting for Pu-Erh tea, absolutely amazing!! Tom was so knowledgeable and friendly!! If you love tea, want to get into tea, like hot water, then come here and do a tasting! 15/10 experience! Then the store is literally the best tea shop I have ever been too! Every kind of tea you want to get is here. Tom is very knowledgeable and everyone else is the friendliest people. Drove 45 minutes and it was so worth it. Do yourself a favor and come to this tea shop, buy some tea, and have an amazing life because you found your tea spot!

Great shop with friendly staff and great tea. Tom is extremely knowledgeable about tea and will gladly answer any questions asked. I have been to multiple of the weekend tea tastings and one of the tea club events and they have probably been my favorite tea experiences I’ve ever had.

I believe I spoke with Michelle and Tom? Both of them were very helpful. I stopped in about two weeks ago my first time. I didn’t have a clue what to look for since my cart on my phone deleted right before I arrived. Michelle was spot on with everything I described and assisted with packing each item with care while carrying a conversation. Tom also shared experiences with teas and gave helpful suggestions to help promote sleep and digestion. I’ve been telling a few people to come to this place and help support this small business. Really enjoyed my time here, thanks guys and hope to stop in again soon!
